The 16th International Conference on Informatics and Semiotics in Organisations (ICISO) was successfully held on 19-20 March 2015, in Toulouse, France. ICISO2015 is IFIP WG8.1 working conference. It was organised and hosted by France Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) in collaboration with Henley Business School, University of Reading. The conference proceedings have been published by Springer IFIP Advances in Information and Knowledge Management in Complex Systems.
Prof. Kecheng Liu (Director of Informatics Research Centre, Head of Business Informatics, Systems and Accounting, University of Reading) has chaired the conference. Leading professors and researchers in Organisational Semiotics & Informatics as well as industrial experts in Knowledge Management from worldwide participated in this conference.
“Information and Knowledge Management in Complex Systems” is the main theme of ICISO 2015. It provided a focal platform for researchers to share their talents and expertise in various domains. More importantly, it offered a tremendous opportunity to pave the way for potential collaborations among research forces and industrial practices. Presentations were categorised into four sessions based on their domain.
This conference sent out a mind-blowing signal towards the synergy between two vectors: research efforts and industrial practices, common yet covered differently. These links run through theories, through methodologies, and through applications. The conference also shared the powerful effects of the technology-push and business-pull created by the exploration in Information and Knowledge Management in Complex Systems. To stimulate this intended "cross-pollination", four industrial experts from DLR and CEA respectively have shared their empirical findings as well as their own practical experiences in the conference, and Professor Ronald Stamper, the founder of the Organisational Semiotics, given an inspirational keynote speech on scientific methods for building more advanced research programmes in Organisational Semiotics.
We are pleased to witness this conference has made significant contribution on bringing researchers from different countries closer for exploring collaborative links for innovative ideas and for engaging the wider organisational semiotics community. We also hope this conference will demonstrate the pace of innovation for all future events.
